Outlook Causes System Reboot

By jgreer ·
I have a new installation of Windows 2K and now when Outlook is opened it causes the system to reboot. It is fine if Outlook opens in SafeMode though. When I check the event log I have the following errors next to eachother.
WARNING-
Printer Driver MLT CN3101e_CF2002 5c Driver for Windows NT x86 Version-2 was added or updated. Files:- NTS5CDRV.dll, NTS5CUI.dll, NTS5CRC.DLL, HELPFILE.HLP.

And
ERROR-
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
ppa

I have performed a clean install of MS Office Professional w/ Frontpage and installed latest service packs yet issue is unresolved.

Outlook Causes System Reboot

I think it's likely that the printer driver is what's causing your problem, not Office itself. It looks like you're using an old NT-version printer driver for whatever printer model you have on this workstation - is this the case? If so, you need to get updated printer drivers for Win2K and install them. Also, the ppa.sys file has to do with parallel ports and printer architecture, so if it's failing to load there's a problem with it too. I would also load (or re-load, if it's already in place) the latest Win2K service pack (SP4) after updating the printer drivers. Hope this helps!

Issue was related to MS WIndows 2K Service pack 4 and Minolta not having a driver compatible with that service pack.
