Background: Exchange 5.5, sp3. Mix of Outlook 98 and Outlook 2000, windows 98 and Win2k. Full T1 line, lots of capacity. Exch is in DMZ, we believe proper ports are opened. Internet mail works fine, no other probs that I’m aware of.
Here is my issue: The only way users can see new messages pop up in any of their Exchange folders is by forcing a synch or clicking around their various folders, which essentially initiates a pull from the server.
If they just sit there looking at their inbox, new messages never pop-in, which indicates that Exchange is not pushing to the clients. Likewise, if they compose a message and hit “send” it just sits in the outbox until they perform some action which does a pull.
Users who just glance at theirinbox think that they don’t have any new messages, when in fact there may be several.
could this be a firewall issue? is there a port closed-off which allows exch. to push? T
