Outlook email sits with Date: None

By roy ·
Using Outlook 2007 and Windows XP.
Sometimes when sending email, after hitting "send" the email sits indefinitely in the Outbox and does not send. In the Outbox, the problem email's lettering is normal (as opposed to the usual italics) and it is shown under "Date: None" instead of today.

The only security software I am using is Norton, but I have the outgoing email scanning turned off.

It is an intermittent but persistent problem I have seen over the last 6 months.

Could not find anything on the web, other than to highlight the problem email, hit the 'Reply to all' which will create a new email which will send OK, and then delete the problem email from the outbox.

The other thing I have notices (perhaps unrelated) is that when it is sending an email, in the lower right corner of the screen it will say 'Sending message 5 of 5' even if only sending one email. If sending 2 emails it will say 'Sending message 6 of 6'.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
