Outlook error

By jmcnally ·
After upgrading a Windows 98 SE machine to Windows 2000 Pro and rebooting I have experienced a problem with Outlook 2000 in which I am able to open the Outlook application but as soon as it opens, an error windows pops up with the following message:

"The procedure entry point StrTokEx could not be located in the dynamic link library MSOERT2.dll"
From this point I am not able to do anything at all and I have to close the error pop up to be able to access to some of the information in outlookbut it does not let me perform any of the normal actions in the application.

I have tried scanpst.exe, uninstalling the application and reinstalling and still get the same problem. I went ahead and open outlook with a cleanpst and still had the same message.
I wonder what entry in the registry I will have to twick to make it work?

Please I need help to resolve this isolated issue.

MSOERT2.dll is an Outlook Express DLL.

Please follow the instructions here to manually Uninstall Outlook Express:

This is not the real solution to the problem. The resolution to the problem is to make sure that once you do the upgrade to Windows 2K you update to the latest SP and latest version of IE before opening the Outlook App. Otherwise it will have the default IE that comes with W2K which is IE 5.0
That caused the problem. But thank you for the help
