Outlook Express 98 – Can’t Delete EMail

IN Outlook Express on 98 the user opens her Sent Folder and tries to delete an EMail. Nothing happens. Tracing her sent folder to the file location I see the sent folder file with a .dbx extension and a sent file folder with a .old extension. Why can she not delete files in the sent folder? She can in other folders just not the Sent Folder?
