I need to transfer the outlook express address book from a win98 hard drive to a winxp pro hard drive. Where are these files? Will Xp Pro open these files? Do I import them, copy them, cut and paste? The master HD is the Win XP while the Slave drive contains the old win 98 files. I need to know the extensions and location of files. Thanks Mike

Outlook Express files in Windows 98 are located in the folder:
C:\Windows\Application Data\Identities
Be advised, however, that this may be a hidden folder, and you'll have to select folder View menu, select Options, and select Show hidden files and folders.
By the way, you should import them. In Outlook Express go to the File menu - Import - Messages - And Select the version of Outlook Express from which you are importing - navigate to the path where they reside (described above), except since this is a slave drive, I assume it's the D-Drive. So the files would be in:
Of course, TheChas is right. I should learn to read. You asked about the address book, but I read it as asking about mail.........okay, where's that coffee?
Sorry about the confusion. I need to import, copy the email address in the old slave drive which was a win98 drive. I now have winxp pro on the new C drive. So it is the emaill address I need. Thanks
The address contacts that you want to import reside in a .wab file. The name of the file will be, most likely, YourName.wab (YourName = the Outlook Express account name).
TheChas indicated where that file may be found. Be advised, it might be in a hidden folder, and you'll have to change your folder options to allow viewing of hidden files and folders (see message one).
