Outlook Express auto-send

By PhiltheGreat ·
1) My outlook express suddenly has a strange behavior: Everytime when I close it, it says some e-mail have not been sent and they are waiting for me to send now. Even no email is written!!
I have checked for virus, trojan and upgraded from IE 5.5 to IE 6.0 (now using outlook express 6.0); sometimes I receive two copies of the same e-mails too. Very strange.

2) My broadbandith has suddenly become very slow when browsing; but it is fast when downloads files. I don't want to re-install the software because I have forgot the password.

You may not have wrote any email, but I'd be certain there's something in your outbox folder from a previous day that's trying to send. You should be able to delete it and take care of your problem.

No, I have checked it. Plus, it is a continual situation. It occurs for a long time. It is unlikely the case. It is why I am worried about trojan.

i would get with your ISP, and verify that you have all the settings in OE, dial properties, and TCP/IP set correctly.

You usually get 2 copies of an e-mail when the server disconnects before your computer sends back an aknowledgement of receiving all of the mail.
A similar process occours when sending mail. Do any of the people you send e-mail to get multiple copies?

Another possability, is that your ISP has become overloaded with clients. If this is the case, the problem won't clear up until they add more bandwidth at their end.

1) The double e-mail problems do not relate to only some senders. It occurs in many senders; but is not severe now. It suddenly comes up, suddenly disappear.
2) But the auto-send out problem is the most worried problem.
3) Do you know how to backup all the old e-mail and address book of the outlook express? I plan to re-install it completely and before this I have to delete the outlook express.

1) Thank you for your response! But this has not yet solved my problem. The auto-send problem is not related to some e-mails really unsent in the e-mails box.
2) broadbandith problem: I have complaint to the ISP; but they cannot find the solution and just give me a list of possibilities which I have checked already and CANNOT solve the problem. You know how bad the support of ISP! Your support is much much stronger than them.

Phil, if you wish to back up your OE files and settings, look in your Windows folder.
Mine are at:
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Identities\{X...X}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
X...X represents the encoded string for your identity.

The files are all compressed data base files with a .dbx extension. Just back up these files, and you are set to clean up the installation and start over.
Once you have OE re-installed, you can use the file/import command to retrieve the files.

You could also use the file/export command to backup your data.

Chaos: "You could also use the file/export command to backup your data. "

The Export is for Outlook or Exchange only, not for outlook express data backup.

I have found the problem now:
It is strange:

Because some e-mails sent are stored in the "sending folder"; but not sent; so it continually ask for sending them; but it will not send them.

I delete the emails in this folder, and it is cured.
