    OutLook Express server connections

I am using Outlook Express 5.00.2919.6600. I have several email accounts which are setup to access the mail servers at my domain. It worked without a flaw for months. Now even if I set my default sever to my ISP server, I run into a problem sending email. I receive the message=
The connection to the server has failed. Account: ‘myserver.net’, Server: ‘myserver.net’, Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I have used another machine to send email through my web secver without a problem.

If I delete my web servers email account and re-establish the settings for it, I can send email without a problem 2 or 3 times and then I get the error messages. It doesn’t seem to matter that I set my ISP mailservice as the default….any ideas

Have you tried using Ping or Tracert to trouble shoot your problem, checking the connection problem to your ISP or call to see if the account is one that is registered with ISP.

      Hi,
It has happend to me when my system got infected with the virus Happy99.exe some one mistakenly sent you the above exe file (when the system infected with the above virus it will send the copies of happy99.exe as an attachments to the users ofyour address book)So check your system with latest virus scanners… Some times ISP’s can restrict the out going messages to certain MB pls. confirm with your ISP.
      Regards

Agreed with Proposed Answer #2 about the Happy99.exe virus. To check if you are hit by this virus, check if your hard disk contains ska.xxx (can’t remember the extension) and winsock32.ska. If you have then delete the existing winsock32.dll and rename your winsock32.ska to winsock32.dll (or copy from some other computers not infected with virus) and del the ska.xxx file.
