Outlook File Corruption

by azager . Updated 25 years, 6 months ago

I work for a company that uses Outlook 98 as a client and Exchage 5.5 on the back end. We have two external companies that have reported this problem when we send them an e-mail with a Word or Excell attachemnt.

One client who uses Netscape Communicator get the the e-mail but the file attachement has been renamed and can not be opened with any Office application. When they try to open the file they get a messge like this:

netscape is looking for a plug in for this type:
> application/ms-tnef

My questions is what is happening to this attachment.
We have on other client who uses Lotus Notes and they can’t open some attachments either. The worst part about this problem is that it does NOT happen all the time!

Thanks in advance for your help.
