More information is needed to assist in resolving this issue. How are you reaching hte Exchange server? What version of Outlook? What version of Exchange?

Assuming exchange server is setup correctly, perhaps your workstation doesn't have the proper DNS settings in the network adapter configuration.

Other than that, you have provided too little information about your topology to provide an answer.

same problem

by dave114 In reply to outlook not connecting

I'm trying to help someone with an Outlook problem. He's transitioning from using Exchange through a VNC connection, to using a POP3/SMTP account. We configured the POP3/SMTP account, which passes when you clock the "test" button. But Outlook won't work at all unless it can connect to the Exchange server.

In a couple of weeks, he won't be able to connect to the Exchange server anymore, so we need to make this work.

Any ideas? How can we tell Outlook to NOT try to connect to an Exchange server?

Maybe this will help

Dave,
1st-you have to close the outlook session. 2nd-go into control panel. 3rd-choose the mail icon. 4th-choose the set up accounts box. 5th-choose the view or change email account. 6th-Highlight the exchange (under the type catagory)and remove. That's it..

I also have the problem

Your solution clears the message but I still want to connect to my Exchange Server over Cisco VPN pix515. As soon as I re enter the details of the Exchange serner I get the message again.
Any other thoughts I can ping the server so know I am connected.

Thanks
Kevin
