Outlook not responding

On starting up Outlook 2K, I get the message ‘The Microsoft Exchange Address Book was unable to log on to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer.’ I tried unchecking TCP/IP, rebooting, rechecking TCP/IP and creating a new profile to no avail.
