Outlook or an e-mail proxy server?

By den_santiago ·
We have a local area network which is using a proxy server for shared internet access which is Wingate. A lot of our staff is using Yahoo Mail as their default e-mail account. I know yahoo supports POP3 and SMTP which allows an e-mail retriever software such as MS Outlook Express to retrieve your e-mail messages and send e-mail messages using the Yahoo Server. Wingate on the other end allows you use it as a proxy e-mail server to access your e-mail messages from an ISP but for only 1 account. Is it possible to configure MS Outlook Express to connect our workstation to retrieve their e-mails in Yahoo without altering Wingate's Configuration? Or do we have to use an E-Mail Proxy Server? If so what is the software's name and is it a freeware or shareware?

outlook express works for yahoo because it accesses mail http through the client, like hotmail. it's not a pop and smtp account. it still goes through the web, but it just looks like a pop and stmp cuz it goes through outlook express.

what are trying to do? store the info on your proxy server? it's easier just to buy mail server software.
