Outlook pst problem

HELP!! I started to copy a file from my server to my desktop but realized that I actually wanted to do the reverse. There was an existing pst file on the server and laptop with the same name. Realized my mistake rather quickly and cancelled the copy. However, the origial file on the laptop disappered. Does anybody please know how to recover this data. Client is not happy as you might imagine.
