Outlook Spell Check.....

By BigWhammerDaddy ·
We have an issue where we need to remove words from the Outlook 2000 dictionary. The words "fro" and "abut" are valid words, but they present problems when you accidentally misspell "from" and "about". Thank your for your help with this.

Probably it is not possible to remove the words from a standard dictionary in Office 2000. However, with auto correction it is easy to have abut replaced by about and fro by from.
Under Tools, options? , look for spelling and amend the auto correction list. Also enable auto correction.
Good luck

I should have put that we do not use Word as our e-mail editor. Within Outlook, you can not setup Auto-Correct, maybe you can if Word was your e-mail editor.

Sorry, I did not have a running version of Outlook 2000. One of those jokes of MS to allow only one version of Outlook on a given system. The auto correct, even when not using Word as a mail editor is only available in Outlook 2002 or XP. In that case you would have a solution.
I doubt if there is any way to amend the standard dictionaries.

Sorry, I could not find a way to edit the default dictionary with a quick look through the interface. If I have time tomorrow I'll try something a bit more thorough.

Best I found was click on Tools->Options->Spelling->Edit, but that only allows you to add or remove words from your custom dictionary, which fro and abut would not be in.
