I’ve got a user with a Win98 computer, Outlook 97 Exchange client connecting to Exchange 5.5 on an NT server. The computer uses Offline Storage to work remotely and synchronize, and has never had any problems.
Now it gets an error every time it tries to synch, whether on the network or dialing in, saying: “[80070005-508-0-733] You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object. See the folder contact or your system administrator.” Mail which is in the outboxof the Offline file is sent, but nothing new is received and no other changes are replicated on the server.
I’ve verified all the setting both locally for outlook and on the server for her mailbox. I’ve been through everything I could find on Microsoft’s KB, tried uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook and Windows Messaging, and upgraded to Outlook 2000, all without success. I can create a new .ost file and work from that without problems, but there are too many items in the current .ost torecreate unless I have to.
The only known thing to have changed recently was the installation of MSN Explorer for dialup access, but the user can’t tell me for sure whether the sync problems started before or after the installation of MSN.
Anythoughts?
