Outlook VPN client can't use Ex2k mailbx

By ISCMRO1 ·
I have a remote user connecting via VPN to our HQ. She is running Win2k Pro and Outlook2K, and is connected via PPTP to our PIX firewall. I have successfully set up her connection to Ex2k server so she can get mail, but the next day she has trouble authenticating. Message states "The logon credentials supplied were incorrect..." Funny part is sometimes the connection works if she refreshes the VPN connection, but sometimes she cannot contact Ex2k server at all. This is driving me crazy...

Outlook VPN client can't use Ex2k mailbx

Is this happening only to her? Are both ends of the VPN tunnel on public IP space? If she is using her VPN client from a private IP space (RFC1**8 - 10.x.y.z or 192.168.x.y) she can have unpredictable VPN connectivity due to miscalculated checksums in the IPSEC header when the NAT occurs.

Both ends are in the public address space - thanks for the suggestion, though.
