Outlook Xpress default file location

By flyfshmn ·
I have had an interuption w/ my desktop. Needed to reinstall the OS (Win2000 Pro). Did not format drive and when system rebooted, I needed to reset-up Outlook Xpress with my Hotmail account. I had saved old emails to the default location (inbox - local folders)on my hard drive and now need to recover the said files. I need to locate the files as they contain the user name and password for me to download XP RC2. Points to be awarded asap to the correct answer/answers.

Thanks in advance

If you installed 2000 over your current installation and did not run the "upgrade" procedure instead you might have problems. Outlook Xpress keeps all its Data in the Dir <Winnt Root>\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{GUID}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\
If they are still there you can Import the inbox and all other settings from that directory to your new installation by just going to "File - Import" and selecting what you want to import. Make sure you also select Outlook Express 5 as the program from which you are importing.
