I have two laptop users who were just transitioned to new laptops, and can no longer successfully sync their offline folder file with the exchange server.
In both cases, the outlook 98 client on the workstation was setup to connect to the exchange folder, and enabled for offline access. New .ost files were created on the laptops by selecting Tools / Synchronize / All Folders.
Now every time a synchronization occurs (manual or automatic) the following error message is inserted in the synchronization log in the deleted items folder:
11:55:06 Error synchronizing folder
11:55:06 [80004005-501-0-550]
11:55:06 The client operation failed.
11:55:06 Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store
The only other thing that changed around the same time, was that ISINTEG was run on the private information store on the exchange server to (hopefully?) eliminate any anomolies in the database. ISINTEG was run at the request of the support techs at ARCSERV, who are troubleshooting some backup problems on our exchange server.
I have tried reinstalling outlook, creating new profiles, recreating the .ost file from scratch… etc. etc. etc.
HELP!
