Outstanding reboot order

By yvonne ·
I have uninstalled an application and have rebooted according to the request. But, when trying to reinstall the software, I get an error telling me that I have an outstanding reboot order and to reboot and try again. I rebooted again and tried again, but continue to get the same error message. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of this message so I might reinstall this program?

Do you have to reboot, i.e.; you have no choice but to reboot and nothing else works?

sounds like it is wanting to write to the registry to complete the installation and something is not letting it. corruption or not enough privleges.
if you are sure you are logging in with a user account that has local administrator privleges then i would try booting into safe mode to see if that will allow the install to complete. if not, try uninstalling and reinstalling the application...

To DouglasB: I do not have to reboot at this point. I can just click OK and do anything else I want to do. I was told to delete the following folder from the registry: PendingFileRenameOperations That folder was not in the registry, but the folder named FileRenameOperations was there and I deleted it, but when trying to install the program I got the same message.
To SgtSchultz: You might be right, but there is nothing to uninstall, I already did before trying to reinstall.

Hi, You didn't mention the name of the software...have you checked the software vendor for support? -Ron
