Overheating mouse..

By FulBing ·
I have a problem with a mouse getting rather hot, literally. It does not get hot enough to burn much hot enough to make it defficult to hold the mouse. I have tried both ps2 and usb versions and have the same problem. The problem is also intermittent and does not seem to relate to any one event. My only thought is that there is a voltage regulation problem on the motherboard(Asus me99vm), but how would I check this?
Any other ideas??

Is it the same brand of mouse?

Try a different brand...

Also, what is UNDER the desk in that area? Are there power conduits under the desk?

Hi I would have to guess thatit is not a voltage problem if it occurs while using usb.So I would suggest getting another mouse or maybe cleaning theone you have. You should try cleaning yours first just make sure that you power down your computer before you disconnect your mouse remove the ball and take a q-tip with some rubing alcohol and clean the contacts. rockyolson@charter.net

This may be due to a defective mouse that has been recorded before that manufacturers of the intellipoint mouse have been over heating and may not have anything to do with your system.Look back at question on 09/08/00 for reference to the same problem,or in the upper right cloumn using search type in mouse overheating and you can review the previous questions about mouse on the second page.
