OWA syntax

By quintar51 ·
Hi all.

I've setup exchange 2k sp3, with win2k sp3 AD domain. I am able to use the web access client internally, by typing http://computername/exchange. what do I need to type if I want to access it from the internet?

You have a couple of choices:

You could use the Fully Qualified Domain Name for the Exchange server, i.e. http://computername.yourdomainname.com/exchange

or you could use the IP address of your Exchange server, i.e.
http://IPaddress/exchange

You need to type the public FQDN for the server - i.e., this could be different from your internal FQDN. Depending upon how your DNS server is set up, it is either authoritative for your domain, or authoritative only for your internal zone. If your DNS server is authoritative for your domain, you can specify any host name you want and resolve it to your external IP address and it will work. Otherwise, if your ISP's DNS servers have authority for your domain, you need to know what host name they are using for your server's external IP address. Hope this helps!
