P2P network not functioning correctly

by mikeb . Updated 25 years, 2 months ago

Here’s the setup: I have 3 computers connected to a LinkSys 10/100 5 port switch. Computer 1 is a Dell with a 3c905b-tx nic and running Win98SE. Computer 2 is also a Dell but with a 3C905c-txm nic and running Win98SE. Computer 3 is a Packard Hellwith a SMC 10mb card and running Win95. The Protocol is NetBEUI.

When I restart all the computers Computers 1 & 3 can see all (1,2,& 3) computers and browse them in network neighborhood. However, when I select network neighborhood on computer 2 I takes about 3 minutes to show all computers. When I select comp 1 or 3, nietwork neighborhood stop responding. I can however select map network drive by rigth clicking on the My Computer icon and manually map a drive. This works so I can browse the network computers from Windows Explorer.

The problems seem to be with comp 2 or are they? I already removed all networking on comp2 and reinstalled them. Any Ideas why the problems with network neighborhood? If I can map a drive why won’t network neighborhood let me see them?

Thanks
Mike
