How to decide Initial size and maximum size in the windows 2000?.

The standard MS recommends is RAM x 1.5 up to 4096 MB. I generally go with RAM x 2. Also, set the initial and max size to the same value.
This prevents the pagefile from growing while users access the system and from slowing down as the system searches for and allocates space.
Don't put the pagefile on the same drive as your system files if possible...
