Pagefile FUBAR

By BuJoDa ·
Have dualboot windows machine with 98 and 2000pro (2kp). 98 is in boot partition (FAT, C:)and 2kp is in NTFS extended partition. The page file for 2kp was originally all on C:. I changed the page file settings in 2kp to be located in both partitions plus those in a new drive I added. I then wiped out the partitions on the new drive without resetting the pagefile. Now when I try to boot into 2kp, the "ctr-alt-del" login screen comes up, I login, but the system "loops back" to the login screen. To make things worse, I have about 2.5 GIG of EFS-encrypted files I can not access!

Temporarily install an additional drive. Create the partitions using Fdisk and fat32. Now start 2K and restore page file to the correct settings.
Remove the extra drive and all should be well.

Set up a spare drive as recommended but the "boot loop" still occurs. Checked the drive's partitions and the pagefile.sys files were copied. Any other ideas?
