Pagefile gone missing in w2k

Putting a hdd from another w2k to get files safe from it made the pagefile dissapear on the machine used to rescue those files.

The answer I found on this site was to re-install.

But how can I put another hdd with system parition into anohterw2k machine for file rescuing? That is, without the pagefile dissapearance. Wouldn’t want to re-install all over again…
