"pagefile.sys" file is huge!!!

By J-Dog ·
My pagefile.sys file on my server is over 1GB in size. One of the administrators here at work said it's fine, just let it be. But, this thing is taking up too much space. Is there anything that can be done without harming my databases?

Go to COntrol Panel, System, click on the performance tab and click the change button next to Virtual memory. MS recommends your physical RAM size plus 12 MB. You can make it larger if you like.

How large is your HD? Do you have a RAID configuration? If you have a second (or third) partition or drive, simply resize your pagefile to that drive. 1GB isn't that large. I have a minimum of 500 MB for all of my servers. However, if you are running out of space, simply add another drive, or buy a larger one and partition. Also, try and keep the pagefile off of the system partition, too. You'll get better performance.
