PAL client problems

by kp288 . Updated 20 years, 3 months ago

A remote user tries dialing in using the PAL client on a XP Pro laptop. The user ID and password is the same as user before; they get the dialtone, the handshake which should be followed by the “Network Logon” & “Connected” prompts is now getting “Invalid password or domain”. (Last week they got a different message; “VPN subsystem is unavailable.” They rebooted and were able to successfully login and connect to our network.) Their Verizon account is fine, but for some inexplicable reason the user is now unable to login. I’ve also had the misfortune to have PAL clients “break” on 4 other laptops; a user launches PAL and gets a Windows MSI istaller pops up as though PAL is trying to reinstall and prompts for the network location of the PAL MSI file. Eventually the TCP/IP stack became corrupted. On all 4 laptops we were eventually forced to reimage. This is so frustrating!
