Palm Hardware Durability

By kostrubr ·
I have had two Palm units - a III and a V - fail in the lower left hand standard button, i.e. the Date Book button. In both cases, the metal spring beneath the button breaks and the button floats free, sometimes jamming physically "on" the Date Bookfunction. Am I the only one experiencing this ? Is Palm aware of this as a potential shortfall ?

Palm Hardware Durability

Hi!

You are not the only one. This is a common problem for handhelds and the manufacturer do not of this issue. The design of the saing or cover is to make it look nice but the durability of it is another issue.

Look at it at another perspective. This is not ruggedised and the price we paid for it warrants certain issue which may not be known of. At the same time, the warranty for it is only a year and manufacturers hopefully pray that you don't go back for more.

Get a ruggedised one but that would cost a bomb. Alternatively, the M series handheld may be better in the button aspect as they said that have rectify some button problems.

Regards,
