    Panasonic Toughbook CF-27 BIOS locked!

    We have a Panasonic Toughbook model #CF-27 and one of our users locked the BIOS when he was laid off! We have tried (3) different times to get a work-around from Panasonic, but, they want us to send it to them, they unlock it, and bill us $150!Does anyone know a work-around to this situation?

    PLEASE HELP! 🙂

      You can unlock the bios by removing the cover and removing the memory battery for 5 minutes and reinserting. This will reset the BIOS to original manfacturer’s settings and you will have full access. You may have to make some adjustments to the BIOSafter rebooting, including your hard drive setting, boot sequence and several lesser settings. If you call support after resetting, I’m sure they’ll walk you through the set-up procedure.

      I hate to say this, but if it was something as simple as removing a BIOS battery, Panasonic wouldn’t be able to get away charging you $150.

      While the advice given in Answer 1 will work for desktop computers, it will not work with many laptops. With the ease with which notebooks can be stolen, most manufacturers are making it difficult, if not impossible, to easily unlock BIOS passwords (on many IBM laptops, you must actually replace the system board, or dig out the soldering iron).

      Some of the advice here (http://www.pwcrack.com/bios.shtml) might work for you. Otherwise, you are stuck paying Panasonic the money.

        I appreciate your answer ~ but want to bump this back up to see if perhaps something can be done to unlock the BIOS password in a Panasonic CF-27
