Paradox DB Programming

By CrimsonCub ·
I want to create a VB6 program that accesses multiple Paradox DB tables. Do I need to go through the BDE or not? Can I use VB6 to accomplish this task? Where do I get information on programming this?

You can open a Paradox database file using the DAO or ADO options of Visual Basic 6.

Set dbsJet = OpenDatabase(LocText$, False, False, "Paradox 5.x;")

' Create Recordset object from Accounts table.
Set Myinvent = dbsJet.OpenRecordset("inventor")

More information can be gotten from a number of books I have seen about Database programming with Visual Basic.

This code sample will open a Paradox version 5 database file called "inventor".

LocText$ is the folder location where the file "inventor.db" file exists.

You can also open with Visual Basic these type of files using the same method I showed about:

Microsoft Jet Database [database]; drive:\path\filename.mdb
dBASE III dBASE III;
dBASE IV dBASE IV;
dBASE 5 dBASE 5.0;
Paradox 3.x Paradox 3.x;
Paradox 4.x Paradox 4.x;
Paradox 5.x Paradox 5.x;
FoxPro 2.0 FoxPro 2.0;
FoxPro 2.5 FoxPro 2.5;
FoxPro 2.6 FoxPro 2.6;
