Parallel Port Card

by shanghai sam . Updated 24 years, 4 months ago

Hi all

I have tried to install double parallel port card (PCI 32 Bit Multi I/O series with IEEE 1284 Parallel Interface) on Compaq Deskpro EN PC, that runs NT4 Workstation. Hardware installation was going fine. There was a installation CD-ROM supplied, and I have followed all the instructions. However, I couldn’t get those parallel ports running. The existing parallel port works fine. When I swap printer cable to newly installed ports, device is not recognized.Same is with ZIP drive.
Upon installation , I am supposed to go to Control Panel, Multi I/O card configuration, and click ” remap to legacy 0x278 I/O port and remap to legacy 0x378 I/O port, respectively. If I click that, there is a message “Not enough memory was available to allocate internal storage needed for the device”. However, no difference at the end.
When checking NT diagnostics, the SNXPAR is listed twice, with address range of 1040-1047 and 1050-1057 respectively. Also, when checking event viewer, there is a message:User onfiguration data for parameter COM2 overriding firmware configuration data.
Also, user configuration data for parameter COM1 verriding firmware configuration data. That is due to previous user intervention, but I’m not sure whether it has anything to do with it.
What shall I do to get those extra parallel ports up and running?

Thank you.
