      Step 1:
Partition the drive into at least 2 partitions.
You could just create a Primary DOS partition out of part of the drive and set that up for W98.

I myself would create a third partition / logical drive formatted as a FAT32 volume and use it as a shared data file partition.

Format the Primary partition, and install W98 on it.

Once W98 is running fine with all drivers and desired updates installed, prepare to install XP.
If you left some unpartitioned space on the hard drive for XP, make sure to change the drive letter of your CD drive(s) to at least 1 higher.

You should be able to boot from the XP CD and follow the installation screens.
There should be an option to create a dual boot system.
Make sure to install XP on a separate partition from the one that W98 is on.

Once you are done, you should be presented with a boot menu with XP as the default OS.

Can you give me step by step instructions? Like I said I’ve done this before but I’m having a brain fart.

The Chas is correct, his instructions are good. If you want to try something else, Virtual PC is good too (except no USB ports in virtual mode).

      hiiii there its easy
first decide how many partition u need keep two for 98 and xp better keep some space for your other data also now initially using format one partition and instal 98 after installing 98 with the requiered drivers next instal xp this can be done either thru 98 or by booting xp but be sure for safe and speedy working instal xp on another partition so thus you will have dual boot of 98 and xp example if its 80 gb hardisk make 20*4 first part 98 second part xp third and fourth your data over 🙂
