Partition in XP

By shiveleytom ·
I am attempting to partition my 200 GB hard drive. I have Windows XP Home. Right now it is only showing 186 GB capacity with no extra space. The help files in windows don't seem to help. Does anyone know the steps to take to partition my hard drive so I have windows on part of it and 2 others for each person's files? I have tried using the boot disk to get access to DOS then delete the partition, create a primary, an extended, and 2 logicals followed by formating all the drives but it didn't seem to work.

Thanks.

This is a tech. problem, in search of a solution.

It properly belongs in "Technical Q&A," not in "Discussions."

Please re-post there.

Thank you.
