I’m kind of just starting this for anyone with partitioning questions, but I do have questions that I am trying to get more info on. Suppose you have 3 hard drives installed, say one IDE and 2 SATA and you are trying to install Windows XP, Vista, and Linux (Fedora) on the 3 three separate drives. What would having more than one ACTIVE partition do? Say you made 2 of the drives active during the separate setups. I think I know the answer but I am looking to see if anyone can explain in more detail what would happen.
This was tried and could not get it to work right until say the SATA drives were taken out or vice versa, and even then sometimes the OS would not boot. A type of musical chairs was played in changing where the bootloader would look to boot a specific OS. Let’s just say it did not work. I think it was because there was probably more than one active partition (on separate drives of course)
Any feedback and help would be appreciated…
