Locked

Password changes

By Jeli ·
I have a user that could not change his password to log on to the system. When I checked it has been locked out and no one can change it. I have never seen this problem. Does anyone know how to correct this, so that I can get it changed as they are required to change it on a monthly time frame.

An account gets locked when the security policy has reached its limit. Usually if a password is typed 5 times incorrectly the account will lock for (usually) 20 minutes. Aside from this, you can have the domain account unlocked from AD, or a local account unlocked from Local Users and Groups in administrative tools, you need to be logged in as an administrator of the machine for this one.

i would add: enable auditing on the pc or on the server to see how come this account is being locked out. you would be able to see from where and at which time this is being done.
