Password criteria in Windows 2003 Server

By trahim ·
Is there a way in Windows 2003 environment to restrict user passwords from containing certain words, like 'password' or 'mypassword' or their login id?

I know that 2003 allows modification of password length, age, strength and so on.

Thanks in advance.

Enable Complex Passwords

I believe that "password" is a data dictionary word, and prevents users from containing it in their password.

Rather then type it all out, just refer to this site.

You will notice that in example their is a GP that refers to "Passwords must meet complexity requirements".

Their are also add ons for GP settings to allow for certain passwords that are not allowed.
