Can my password be detected when logging onto the network? If so, how can I prevent this?

Password detection

If someone is running a sniffer on your network, capturing packets, then it is possible.
On a Windows network, you can grab the SMB packets (server message blocks) and it is possible to find the passwords in there.
Here is a Technet article on SMBsigning, which makes it harder for SMB to be read:

Thank you. Is there a way to detect if someone is using the Sniffer?
