Password expire

By marlond ·
On a win2k advanced server, if i set user password to expire in 30 days, does this means that the admin have to change the pws every 30 days? or is there a way to have the user change it from his work station with out having to log in the server? is there a way to prompt the user to change the server password when it has expired?

When you check "password to expire in 30 days", the User's password will expire. After 30 days, upon his / her next successful login, the user will then be prompted to input a new password.

If you put password never expires, the user can always change his password at any time.

CTRL+ALT+DELETE - Change password.... This will not work if the user on the server's permissions is set to "User cannot change password". Otherwise the user, with a 30 day expiration or never expire profile can always change his password at any time.

Good luck

Answer 1 is correct -- assuming that everyone is using NT 4, 2000, or XP.

If any of the client computers are Win98 or WinMe, then the administrator will probably have to change the password
