password in XP

By jsarinana ·
I just got me first XP notebook, were on a 2000 network. Question the user has all the proper setting on his notebook when he logs into our Domain. When he logs into notebook instead of the domain he does not need a password. I tried setting a password for this account when logged into the notebook only through Control panel\user accounts. But still he can just log into his notebook with no password. How do you set a password for the computer ? thanks

You were headed in the right direction with user accounts...

1. Click on Start - then click on Run - type control userpasswords2 or just go to it through control panel

2. Click OK

3. On the Users tab, clear the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" check box.

Hope this helps...

Thanks, the user had never used a password on the computer which sets it to a blank password until one is entered
