I’ve owned a Compaq Presario V2000 for the last 2 years. My kids use the laptop for homework, itune music downloads, and playing World of Warcraft. I also use the machine for some elements of my work, online banking and taxes. Recently when I turned on the machine a password field appeared. None of the other users in my family attempted to set a system level password so I’m not sure why the option has activated. Long story short the system now requires a password to allow access and I don’t know the password. I’ve read a few threads on this site which noted for desktops a watch battery must be removed from the computer to allow the BIOS to reset. Does this same logic apply to laptops? I’ve already reomved the rechargeable battery pack attached to the exterior of the machine. Is there an internal battery that I need to disable as well?
Thank you in advance for your assistance on this issue.
