Password Problems

Help Plz

I got a pc from a dear friend and he wants me to get the thing running again. My problem is that the computer that he gave me was joined to a few domains and neither of us knows any passwords for any accounts. The pc has WinXP SP2 on and to use safe mode doesn?t work. I am in desperate need for some help other than reinstalling the OS. Any suggestions?
