Password reset delegation

By felixjg ·
In windows 2000 I created an OU that had the users for a department. I wanted to delegate the reseting of passwords to one of the department heads. I ran the delegation wizard and gave the department head the right to reset passwords. But where in windows 2000 professional can he reset the password for the other users. I can do in server ok but where in professional?

I need to now how the department head can reset other peoples password not his own. He has been delegated that right but how can he do that from his workstation running professional. In server all that needs to be done is to right click theuser in active directory but that option does not seem to work in professional. Thanks for the effort.

well, the answer quite easy,he cant do this because the is no active directory options in win2000 professional, but you can turn on this by two ways
1:- configure terminal services server on your controller, then configure terminal services client obnwin2000 pro.,and make it in administrative mode, not application mode, and simply he can log into the server from any client, and make the changes.

2:-there is a third party program, which gives you AD options in the professional windows, you can findit in downloads.com, but i still recommend the first option,as it is secure, not as the second which has security bugs, and because the third party program is costly

There is a way to add active directory to 2k professional using the MMC.

You should be able to install the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC Snap in on his terminal if he is running Win2k. He should only be able to edit users that to which you give him explicit rights.
