    Password Secured Folder Sharing

    Locked

    by bbbnews ·

In Win98 and WinME, when folders are shared in network, we have the choice whether to include password or not. Unfortunately, I could not find this function in WinXP. How do we set password in our shared folders in WinXP?

    Many thanks for responding.

It depends on whether you are in a domain or not, and if you are using XP home or XP pro. Under XP pro, security is handled through user accounts on the machine. There really isn’t a way to password protect folder’s in xp home…they are either shared or not. Unfortunately, this is by design in an effort by Microsoft to force security minded folks to purchase XP Pro…

      Hope this helps.
