Password Security

by petemcc . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

I know about standard user PW security policies such as enforcing complexity, expiration, etc. But what about actual storage of records for network admins or personal passwords (like my TechRepub pw for instance).

Obviously it’s possible for an administrator to have a lot of passwords to keep track of and keep secure.

Would you use the same password at multiple sites/accounts? I know some seasoned admins that seem to use the same password over and over again, I guess because it’s easierto remember. I maintain an updated floppy (in a safe place) with all my personal passwords and occasionally print a hard copy to store.

What are some other thoughts or recommendations y’all might have?

Thanks

Pete
