I’m a network admin at a small corporation. I do all the IT stuff with a friend of mine. I’m also a student and working part time (about 18 hours a week). I’m currently on the payroll, with a schedule and pay per hour. Much of the time I find myselfdoing different things, and sometimes nothing but waiting for a user’s workstation to blow up and give me something to work on. Is it more cost effective, for the company and myself, to be on a salary? Or what about working independently? I need to be present because things always come up over the day, but some days I may only work 30% of the time (at least it seems that way). What do you think?
