PC Anywhere - cannot start service

By dcoyle ·
Has anyone seen this error message before, on trying to start PC Anywhere (both 9.x and 10.x versions):
No object was specified. Maybe because you are starting Host for the first time, using Services Control Panel Applet.
To start try:
1) Specify the name of the Be a Host file (*.BHF) in start parameters for the Host, using Services Control Panel Applet.
2) Start Host from PC Anywhere manager.
3) Open a Be a Host file in Explorer.

Notes to above: I believe I could start the services, no problem up to recently. After installing VNC (a free Remote Session utility) this may have started happening. I uninstalled VNC. After that, and a re-boot, I got the above eror message (still).
I tried no.2 above to no avail. No's 1 and 3 I'm not sure how to do...
Any help appreciated. Thx in advance!

PC Anywhere - cannot start service

You may have to uninstall and reinstall with a clean machine. Make sure you have all of the updates/patches/programs you need from Symantec at their web site. I know on version 9.0, 9.0.1, and 9.2 you you need to have the 921up patch to run on Win2K. Also, do a search in the registry to make sure there are no remnants of VNC still in there. (Make sure you backup the registry before you modify.)You can perform #3 by doing a search for the *.BHF, then most likey double clicking on it.
Good Luck!

This was kinda right...but may vary from PC to PC. Re-installing the s/w is the key, I think. IN this order...PC Any and then VNC.
Thanks.
