PC backup by network connection

By dfletch31 ·
Is there a fairly simple method of making a backup copy of PC hardrives(including boot and sysop partitions) over a netware 4.1 network to a CDR/W installed in the server?

You could try Drive Image Pro. Use a network boot disk to connect to the server (where Drive Image should be installed) and then create an image of the drive.

Yes there is a simple way to backup your HD and partitions over any Novell network to a CDRW. Just mount cd CD on the server if it is not already mounted. The server command is "CD mount 2" or whatever the device number is. the command "CD device list" will tell you. If it is already mounted, then you can see it in the network neighborhood and then map a drive letter to the CDRW (such as drive letter X:). Then run msbackup or ntbackup or thatever backup program you use. Do a full system backup and use "backup device to drive X:" instead of tape device.
That is all it takes. Good luck.
