each time i start up my PC it says disk boot failure also something about a (DMI pool failure). the weird thing is that when i use Hiren's boot CD and pick BOOT FROM HARD DISK it boot normally. Is there a problem with my MBR and how i can fix it?

It would be of great help if we knew what OS is on your hard drive

it is a custom pc with 2 hard drive the master is XP and the slave is Ubuntu the processor 3.2 GHz AMD athlon Ram is 1.5 GB

Sounds like the MBR got hosed. You'll need to run an inplace repair

of XP using the CD media to correct the corrupted system files on the MBR that are preventing XP from loading properly.
