pc getting hanged

my pc configuration is
Total Memory Size: 512 MBytes
MotherboardChipset: Intel 945GC (Lakeport-GC) + ICH7
ProcessorName: Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140
Original Processor Freqency: 1600.0 MHz

the problem is even after formatting the pc several times it gets hanged suddenly every now and then.. sometimes it works well but it doesent go well for a long time..
is there any virus affecting my pc. please help me

Viruses can withstand and survive a normal format ...

To be sure that you have killed any particularly stubborn infection it is best if you WIPE the HD completely.

Darik's Boot&Nuke should suffice:

Allow it to invoke the 'AutoNuke' which will perform 3 passes across the data surfaces of the HD. Depending on the capacity of your HD this operation could take at least 2 hours. If you get bored DO NOT interrupt it!

Just go to bed.
