Hi you don't say what OS you are using but if it is Win98 SE this is a known problem with some set ups, the cure can be either a BIOS upgrade or disabling fast shut down.

Best Regards

I have run into this problem before on win98 machines. They seem to be the worst for this. I have found by running scandisk to clean everything up and then running DEFRAG your problem will go away. I suggeste that you run them both weekly or so to avoid pc slowdowns and shutdown problems.

yes if your running win 98SE there should be a patch for this via windows update in the start menu. also rnaapp seems to do this also, hit cntr alt del highlight rnaapp and click end task (if running) Good Luck, Mark

Ensure that all of your programs are closed before closing windows. E-mail programs are often the culprit, but there could be others. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your hardware. Windows must unload these drivers on shutdown and couldhave problems if they aren't the latest. You could also open the task manager (ctrl+alt+delete) and close all programs running, with the exception of explorer and systray before clicking on shut down.
